Privacy Notice
ReadRight Pro provides reading assessment and progress software for primary schools and education professionals. This notice explains how personal information is handled.
Who to contact
Privacy enquiries can be sent to hello@readrightpro.com.
Controller and processor roles
For pupil and staff information supplied to, or generated through, a school's use of ReadRight Pro, the school or academy trust will normally be the data controller, and ReadRight Pro acts as the data processor on the school's documented instructions.
ReadRight Pro may act as controller for information used for its own account administration, subscriptions, business enquiries, security and legal obligations.

Reading audio
Reading assessments may temporarily capture microphone/audio input so oral reading can be transcribed and analysed. The ReadRight Pro application itself does not maintain a permanent archive of raw pupil reading audio after processing.
AI-assisted processing
ReadRight Pro uses AI-assisted functions for speech transcription and analysis, and for generating suitable reading passages and questions.
AI-generated or automated assessment measures support teacher professional judgement and must not be presented as final automated decisions about a child.
No selling of data, no advertising
ReadRight Pro does not sell pupil personal information and does not use it for advertising.
Staff and customer information
Information about school staff and customers may include name, work email address, school or organisation, account role, authentication and account information, subscription status and service communications.
Stripe is used for subscription and payment processing. Full payment card details are handled by Stripe rather than stored in the ReadRight Pro pupil database.
Service providers and international transfers
ReadRight Pro uses contracted technology providers for hosting and backend services, authentication and database functionality, AI and speech processing, transactional email and payments.
Some processing may involve providers or infrastructure outside the United Kingdom. Where a restricted international transfer occurs, appropriate contractual and UK GDPR transfer safeguards must apply.
Retention and deletion
Pupil data is retained as necessary to provide the school service and according to the school or controller's instructions, contractual requirements and applicable legal obligations.
Archiving a pupil or class within ReadRight Pro is not the same as deleting their data.
Schools may request deletion or return of school-controlled personal data in accordance with the applicable agreement and technical backup and deletion cycles.
Cookies and browser storage
ReadRight Pro uses cookies and browser storage only where necessary for authentication, security and core operation of the service. No advertising or behavioural tracking technologies, such as advertising pixels or ad-network tags, are intentionally used.
Your rights
For school-controlled pupil and staff data, data subject requests should normally be made to the relevant school, and ReadRight Pro will assist the school in responding.
For information controlled directly by ReadRight Pro, enquiries can be sent to hello@readrightpro.com.
Individuals may also raise concerns with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
